Numerology basicsWhat are Mulank and Bhagyank, and how do you find yours?
In Indian numerology, two numbers are looked at first: Mulank and Bhagyank. Both are single digits from 1 to 9, and both come from your date of birth.
Mulank, the birth number
Mulank comes from the day you were born. If you were born on the 24th, add 2 + 4 = 6, so your Mulank is 6. If the day is already a single digit, such as the 7th, that digit is your Mulank.
Bhagyank, the destiny number
Bhagyank uses the full date. Add every digit of the day, month and year, and keep adding until one digit remains. For 24-07-1986: 2+4+0+7+1+9+8+6 = 37, then 3+7 = 10, then 1+0 = 1. Bhagyank is 1.
What do the numbers mean?
In the tradition each number is linked with a planet: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn, 9 Mars. Mulank is read as how you naturally show up day to day. Bhagyank is read as the direction your life tends to move in. When the two numbers sit well together, the tradition sees more ease; when they differ, it sees a mix of tendencies to understand, not a verdict.
